OCR IT PRACTITIONER AND MCSA or CCNA
The OCR Level 3 Certificate for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support) has been designed to provide accreditation for the full breadth of essential knowledge, understanding and skills that would be needed by a competent employee engaged in the process of supporting ICT systems. The qualification has been designed to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in the full range of functions involved in system support including service delivery, planning and control, the installation of networks and operating systems, the installation and maintenance of applications, the testing of systems and the production of customer support materials. The qualification provides opportunities for learners to study towards system and network management in addition to being able to take units that are vendor specific.
AIM
This qualification aims to:

develop understanding of the ICT industry and its environment

develop understanding of the process of system support from the point of investigation of customer requirements through to the testing of the completed product
-
develop the skills needed to manage an ICT system and network
-
develop practical skills in installation, maintenance and testing of ICT systems.
TARGET GROUP
The qualification is aimed at those who already possess basic knowledge and understanding of ICT system and who wish to extend their knowledge and skills. It is suitable for those who are already employed in system support roles in the IT industry and who wish to develop further knowledge and skills to support and /or extend their work activities. The qualification will also meet the needs of those who are studying in preparation for roles that will involve system support activities.
Although candidates may find it helpful to draw on previous experience and learning in the area of IT User skills and/or OCR Level 2 Certificate for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support), this previous learning is not a pre-requisite.
UNIT BREAKDOWN
Candidates who are successful in achieving 3 mandatory units and three optional units will be awarded an OCR Level 3 Certificate for IT Practitioners.

For a full award a candidate must achieve six units as follows:
Unit 1 Service Delivery, Planning and Control
Unit 2 Hardware/Equipment & Systems Installation
Unit 3 Customer Support Provision
Three units from the remaining units (Units 4 – 26)
2.2 ASSESSMENT PATTERN
Units 1 and 2 are locally assessed by the centre and externally moderated by OCR. Assessment activities will take the form of practical activities that are locally devised. Unit 3 is externally assessed by OCR. The assessment will take the form of an externally set and marked on demand assignment. Microsoft and CISCO have their own externally assessments conducted through VUE or Thompson Prometric.

Group 1: Mon, Wed, Friday 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm & Sat 10.00 am to 5.30 pm
Group 2: Mon, Thursday 9.30 to 4.30pm
What does enrolment and registration involve?
Enrolment and registration are administrative procedures that place you on our books, ensuring that you have access to facilities and appropriate support. It also enables clarification of aims and objectives of your proposed training course and places you on the register. Once you are sure of the course you would like to attend, you should enroll at the Admin Office between 9.30 am and 5.30pm. Your enrolment or registration fee over the indicated period is £25 if you are unemployed and claiming benefit or £350 if you are not. The registration fee covers basic administration, tea and coffee. Tuition fees, currently estimated at £2104.05, are being met by government funds. Therefore, the training is available to you absolutely free. Examination and certification fees, payable to awarding bodies, are not included. Please ask for details.
