Level 2 BCS NVQ for IT Users (ITQ) Train to Gain

This award has been designed to reflect the most up-to-date thinking about IT work based needs. The qualification gives the candidate formal recognition of their performance in the work place and assesses the knowledge and understanding of the key areas of Information Technology.

Target Group: Delegates must be in employment to undertake this NVQ.

Estimated Duration: Flexible, though completion of programme is expected within

12 months.

Target Group: Non-working partners (Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Somalian, especially) who are not in contact with Jobcentre Plus services, who perceive themselves as being in a low-income households and are, in their own right, not in receipt of the following benefits: Jobseekers Allowance (individually or as part of a Joint Claim), Income Support or Incapacity Benefit.

Entry 1 – Level 2 ESOL University of Cambridge

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are offered at Beginner, Pre-intermediate and Intermediate levels. All courses lead to a recognised University of Cambridge qualification.  ESOL courses are delivered at all centres and at various community outreach centres. We are willing to provide ESOL teaching to any community group at their own centre/s or venue/s, and at times that will suit them provided the number of people is 10 or above. The ESOL courses include basic computer skills.

Target Group: Speakers of other languages, community groups.

Estimated duration: 20 weeks

Level 1 OCR New CLAiT

If you are taking your very first steps in IT then New CLAIT (Computer Literacy And Information Technology) could be for you. It will help you build your confidence and give you recognition of your skills in using computers and basic IT software packages.

Target Group: This qualification is aimed at beginners in ICT.

Estimated Duration: 4 weeks

Level 2 OCR CLAiT Plus

If you already have some basic IT skills, then CLAIT Plus certificate could be for you.  CLAIT Plus is the next step up from the New CLAIT qualification.

Target Group: This is aimed at those who wish to progress from a level 1 ICT qualification.

Estimated duration: 6 weeks

Level 3 OCR Certificate for IT Professionals: Systems Support (CCNA/MCSA)

Target Group: It is suitable for those who are already employed in system support roles in the IT industry and who wish to develop further knowledge and skills to support and /or extend their work activities. The qualification will also meet the needs of those who are studying in preparation for roles that will involve system support activities.  Although candidates may find it helpful to draw on previous experience and learning

in the area of IT User skills and/or OCR Level 2 Certificate for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support), this previous learning is not a pre-requisite.

Estimated Duration: 30 weeks

Level 2 OCR Certificate for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support) IT Essentials 1

• Maintaining equipment and IT systems
• Providing customer support
• Installing hardware/equipment & systems
•  Installing & maintaining applications & systems testing

Target Group: All students should have some knowledge of hardware

 and software and preferably a home internet connection.

Estimated duration: 12 weeks
