The OCR Level 1 Certificate in Administration has been developed to recognise candidates’ understanding of basic administrative functions and activities. It accredits candidates’ abilities to carry out routine administrative tasks. It has been designed to accredit candidates’ achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the work context. The qualification has been designed as an introduction to administrative practice. It aims to provide accreditation for the full breadth of essential knowledge, understanding and skills that would be needed by a new employee in an administrative job role. In order to achieve a full qualification, all candidates are required to achieve five mandatory units reflecting the following essential skills: communicating in writing, working with colleagues and customers, working in business organisations, following office procedures and using ICT. Certification is also available at unit level. Each unit is regarded as a worthwhile achievement in its own right. Candidates have the option of achieving as many, or as few, units as are appropriate for their own learning needs or employment situation. The OCR Level 1 Certificate in Administration is part of a suite of qualifications in administration offered by OCR. OCR also offers accreditation in Administration at Levels 2 and 3. Candidates who are successful in achieving accreditation at Level 1 will be able to progress to the qualification at Level 2. The OCR Level 1 Certificate in Administration has been designed to reflect the content of the NVQ in Administration at Level 1 and to provide a basis for progression to this qualification. UNIT BREAKDOWN
CERTIFICATION In order to achieve the OCR Level 1 Certificate in Administration, candidates will be required to achieve all five of the mandatory units. The full qualification will not be graded. Units achieved will be listed on certificates. Some individual units will be graded as detailed in the specification for each unit. Where units are graded, the grade achieved for that unit will be listed on the certificate. Unit certification will also be available for those candidates who achieve fewer than the five units needed to achieve the full qualification. Units 1 and 3 are externally assessed by OCR-set and marked examination. Units 2 and 4 are locally assessed by centres and externally moderated by OCR. Unit 5 is externally assessed by OCR-set and marked assignment.
